Nathan Ellis to Jhye Richardson. Slower length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, to deep mid wicket for 2 runs, mis-fielded by Short. Hobart Hurricanes have beaten Perth Scorchers by 8 runs in a cracking match at Optus Stadium. D'Arcy Short was the hero for the visitors, smashing a sublime unbeaten century including seven towering sixes. He was circumspect to begin with, getting used to conditions before unleashing a brutal assault at the death. On 97 with a ball to go he played an audacious scoop that sailed over the rope to spark celebrations from the Hurricanes dugout. In reply, the hosts were left reeling early on as they lost three wickets inside the powerplay. That meant skipper Mitchell Marsh had a lot to do with the required run rate always on the rise. Once he was dismissed the result never looked in doubt despite some late hitting from Jhye Richardson lowering the margin.

SIX! Scott Boland to Tim David. Back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot pulling, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs. Another over starts with a six, is the momentum just shifting slightly? David got that right out of the screws and the crowd appreciated it. That's put a real dent in Boland's figures.

4
FOUR! Chris Jordan to Ben McDermott. Yorker, outside off stump Deep in crease driving, inside edge past fine leg for 4 runs. The previous boundary was class, this one is a little bit streaky. Jordan is annoyed, there isn't much he could do about that.
17.3
4
FOUR! Chris Jordan to Ben McDermott. Half volley, off stump moves in front Scoop, well timed in the air under control past fine leg for 4 runs. Genius improvisation, McDermott executed that ramp shot to perfection. He knows Jordan is aiming for the blockhole so uses the pace.

4
FOUR! Fawad Ahmed to D'Arcy Short. Googly length ball, down leg side down the track driving, well timed in the air under control past long on for 4 runs. Short carries on with the carnage, he isn't too bothered that they recently lost a wicket. Fawad did well to get out of the way because it was absolutely hammered back towards him and could've done some damage.
15.3
W
OUT! L.B.W. Fawad Ahmed to David Miller. Leg spinner length ball, middle stump on the front foot sweeping, hit pad to. Up goes the finger, easy decision for the umpire. Fawad finally gets one to go his way, he's had quite a few appeals turned down already tonight. Massive wicket, Miller can be very destructive when he gets on a roll.

W
OUT! Caught. Liam Livingstone to Caleb Jewell. Leg spinner short, middle stump on the front foot pulling, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to long on, by Jordan. The two Englishmen combine and the Scorchers get the breakthrough. Not the greatest delivery from Livingstone, dragged down short and Jewell's eyes light up. He doesn't get it out of the sweet spot though and it's the man with the safest hands in the west who is underneath it.

FOUR! Matthew Kelly to Caleb Jewell. Short, down leg side down the track pulling, top edge in the air uncontrolled past fine leg for 4 runs. Awkwardly flapped over short fine leg and the ball trickles away into the rope. Moral victory for the bowler but it's runs all the same for the Hurricanes.

FOUR! Chris Jordan to D'Arcy Short. Slower ball short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, well timed past deep backward square leg for 4 runs. That just sat up begging to be hit and Short obliged with glee. It spoils what had been a tidy over from Jordan.

4
FOUR! Matthew Kelly to Caleb Jewell. Slower length ball, down leg side backing away driving, well timed in the air under control past deep extra cover for 4 runs. This is T20 cricket at it's best. Jewell tries to make room, the bowler follows him with a change of pace and the batsman adjusts at the last moment. Cat and mouse stuff.

FOUR! Matthew Kelly to D'Arcy Short. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past deep cover for 4 runs. Short loves it out there, room to free the arms with a fluent swing of the willow.

OUT! Caught. Qais Ahmad to Chris Jordan. Leg spinner length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to long on, by Short. Heaved down the ground, Short takes the catch - you just can't keep him out of the game tonight. Scorchers losing their way. Jordan was trying to reduce the required rate but perishes.

W
OUT! L.B.W. Nathan Ellis to Cameron Green. Length ball, off stump on the front foot working, hit pad to. An audible groan around the stadium as the umpire raises the finger of doom. Scorchers really needed this partnership to go deep but Green has been removed as he plays around a straight one. Looked like a fair enough decision, smashing into leg stump. Ellis is a skiddy bowler so height wasn't an issue.

FOUR! Tom Rogers to Mitchell Marsh. Off cutter back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, well timed past fine leg for 4 runs. Too short, Marsh just bides his time and then disdainfully swats it between fielders in the deep. Scorchers still very much in this chase.

FOUR! D'Arcy Short to Cameron Green. Slider length ball, outside off stump on the back foot Late Cut, well timed past third man for 4 runs. Delicately done, beautiful shot to compliment the power we saw earlier in the over. Green is only young but he's showing lots of promise.

FOUR! D'Arcy Short to Cameron Green. Left-Arm Leg Spin back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past deep extra cover for 4 runs. FOUR! Qais Ahmad to Cameron Green. Leg spinner half volley, outside off stump moves in front sweeping, well timed past fine leg for 4 runs. That's a risky shot, exposing the stumps behind his legs but it pays off for Green as he can gets the ball to the boundary for the first time tonight.

FOUR! Qais Ahmad to Mitchell Marsh. Leg spinner back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed past deep backward point for 4 runs, mis-fielded by Rogers. Fractionally short and Marsh can lace another one square on the offside. Sloppy work in the deep costs a run, momentum starting to build for the Scorchers.

FOUR! Nathan Ellis to Mitchell Marsh. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed past deep point for 4 runs, mis-fielded by Milenko. Cracked square, that went like a bullet off the bat. It was through the fielder before he could even react. This is more like it from the Scorchers.
5.2
4
FOUR! Nathan Ellis to Mitchell Marsh. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, in the air under control past fine leg for 4 runs. Not the cleanest connection but Marsh gets enough on it to clear short fine leg. Huge cheers from the crowd, they are willing their skipper on.

OUT! Run Out. Scott Boland to Mitchell Marsh. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, back to bowler, direct hit by Boland. Disaster for the hosts, their top order is in tatters. Marsh creams his first ball right out of the meat of the bat and Boland manages to deflect it back onto the stumps at the non-striker's end. Inglis is stranded after backing up, the home fans are dismayed.

OUT! Caught. Scott Boland to Cameron Bancroft. Seaming away length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge to wicketkeeper, by McDermott. Nicked behind, clear noise and the finger goes up in an instant. Boland gets rewarded for finding good areas and extracting a little bit of nibble from the deck. Scorchers in some bother now, they need to form a big partnership.
